Chime generates revenue from an interchange-based business model involving its accompanying debit card, where it earns about 1.5 percent in interchange revenue from Visa. Revolut follows a freemium model, charges premium users 82€/year for special privileges such as cryptocurrency, medial insurance when traveling, virtual disposable credit cards, etc., and they offer you discounts in case you want to insure your devices. Everything is about cross-selling or up-selling, but following a very respectful, opt-in pattern, the total opposite of what happens in traditional banks, where commissions and fees come usually imposed…
